LEEDS UNITED BEATEN

Hospital Cup Match at Norwich

Leeds United were beaten 2-1 by Norwich City in the Norwich Hospital Cup match at Norwich last night. In the first half and early in the second Leeds took matters easily. They were apt to toy with their opponents, and rarely exerted themselves. The first goal, after 22 minutes, was the result of a defensive error which allowed Buckley to score from close range. Later they had many chances to go further ahead, but their shooting lacked power. The best goal of the match was the equaliser five minutes before the interval, Law, the Norwich centre-forward, scoring in brilliant fashion from 20 yards. The winning goal came 17 minutes after the interval through Manders, and then Leeds made a rally. Armes was an excellent right winger, while Hodgson, although not at his best, proved too strong for Reilly. The Hospital benefited by £450, close on 8,000 people seeing the match. Teams: NORWICH CITY: Hall; Johnson, Flack; Robinson, Reilly, Proctor; Edwards, Coleman, Law, Furness, Manders. LEEDS UNITED: Twomey; Mills, Milburn; Edwards, Kelly, Browne; Armes, Ainsley, Hodgson, Stephenson, Buckley. Referee: Mr. A. J. Jewell.
